Under-9 Format Change
May 1, 2011
Dear FYSA Coaches, Parents, and Players,
Franklin Youth Soccer Association has always prided itself on providing a quality, cutting edge soccer program for the Franklin youth soccer players that allows our players to develop technically while having fun! I am writing to share some exciting news that the FYSA Board of Directors believes will improve our program for our Under-9 players.
While we are very pleased with overall offerings of the Franklin Youth Soccer Association, the FYSA Board of Directors is continually looking for ways to enhance our program and the development of our youth soccer players. A year ago, the Board of Directors created a small task force, consisting of coaches and parents, to provide feedback and comments on some of the concepts that the Board was considering. One concept that the Board of Directors has approved to start this fall season is the transition of all of our U9 players to play an in-town academy division.
One of the main goals of FYSA is to create a competitive environment that is also conducive for player and coach development. We believe that allowing all of our 8 year old players and coaches another year of local play will greatly benefit the program and the player’s individual development. Some benefits include:
- All players and all coaches create a naturally competitive environment, without the need for travel
- Use of professional trainers to benefit players and coaches
- Focused development of coaches
- Smoother transition to 6v6, goal keepers, larger fields
- Our 8 year olds get to play with, and against their friends!
FYSA would like to invite parents and coaches to a general information session where we will discuss the change in greater detail as well as answer any questions that you may have. The meeting will be held at the FYSA office, on Thursday, May 19, 2011 at 8pm. Click here to see an overview of the transition.
