Committee Guidelines
Scholarship
The Association will present the following annual awards:
- The King Memorial Award will be designated to a graduate of Franklin High School (historically female) wishing to further their education.
- The McClay Scholarship will be designated to a male graduate of Franklin High School (historically male) wishing to further their education.
Procedure
Potential candidates for these scholarships should initiate their interest through the Franklin High School guidance department by submitting an application to match the criteria set out by FYSA. The application asks candidates to outline their involvement in soccer, describe how their experience has impacted their life, and their expected participation in soccer into the future.
The FHS Guidance Department will distribute the completed scholarship applications to FYSA. The Club Administrator will compile a spreadsheet listing the involvement in FYSA of each candidate (e.g. seasons played, seasons volunteered/coaching, seasons as referee, etc.) and provide a ranking of candidates' involvement. This spreadsheet is vital to the discussion of the Board as it is typical that the most involved students are the best candidates for these scholarships.
Note
Although it is the intent that one candidate is chosen for each scholarship, the Board, in rare cases, may opt to split an award (half the money to two or more candidates) or duplicate an award (give full monies to two candidates).
Rules and Policies Committee
